We will depart Fallon on 12 July around 7:30 am. Will meet for breakfast at Stockman’s at 6:30 am.

We will stay four nights (12-13-14-15) in Fillmore at the Wagons West RV Park and Campground, 545 N. Main ST, Fillmore, UT 84631-0901. Contact Wagons West at 435-743-6188 for reservations. YOU need to call and make reservations for these dates. Mention that you are part of the Fallon, NV ATV Club so we all get in the same general area. Cost is approximately $26/night.

On the morning of the 16th, we will depart Wagons West and drive approximately 55 miles south to the Beaver KOA at Manderfield Road, Beaver, UT 84713. We will stay three nights (16-17-18) at this KOA. Their number for reservations is 800-562-2912. The campgrounds number is 435-438-2924. YOU need to call and make reservations for these dates. Mention that you are part of the Fallon, NV ATV Club so we all get in the same general area. Cost is approximately $35/night.

In Utah, ATV permits ARE REQUIRED. These can be purchased once in Utah for $30/ATV. Utah also has reciprocity with California, so if you have a valid CA sticker, you’re OK. See below for more information on the permits.

Crystal is working on themes for the meals. I will post that information as soon as I receive it.

I will be posting a complete route map for the round trip from Fallon to Fillmore to Beaver and return to Fallon. Total mileage is approximately 950 miles.

There are many choices to make for our rides, so let’s plan to get together that first night and decide where we want to go out of Fillmore. We will have some maps of the trail system available. Since we will be permitted to ride our ATVs on the sides of roads, you can fuel up directly at service stations. As always, bring along at least a gallon of gas per bike for the rides, but you don’t have to carry gallons of gasoline between Fallon and Utah.

Elevations will vary from 5,066 to over 10,000 feet above sea level, so bring along adequate clothing. It’s best to dress in layers; and be prepared for thunderstorms/rain.

I was told that if you are riding on the side of the paved road (i.e. going to get gasoline, food, etc), helmets are required.

Utah ATV Permitting Requirements

Bottom line is permits are required and California has reciprocity. A Utah permit is $30 vice only $20 for a California permit, and California doesn't require all the paperwork for proof of ownership, etc. It seems to me we would be better off paying $20 and having this taken care of before we head to the Paiute Trail. You can get the permits at Big Valley Honda in Reno for $20 cash (no checks or credit cards accepted) per ATV.

If you decide to get a Utah permit, here is the scoop (and there's a lot of it)

  1. Complete a Non-resident Off-Highway Vehicle User Fee Application and Affidavit <http://stateparks.utah.gov/docs/nonresidentOHVapplication.pdf> for each Off-Highway Vehicle you will be bringing to Utah. Have the affidavit(s) notarized by a Notary Public.

  2. Attach a photocopy of your state issued identification (Driver's license or other state issued identification) to the affidavit.

  3. Attach a photocopy of each Off-Highway Vehicle's title/registration, or current registration, or notarized bill of sale in cases where your state has no registration for Off-Highway Vehicles.

  4. Attach a check or money order in the amount of $30 dollars (US).

  5. Mail all the above documents to: Utah Division of Parks and Recreation Non-resident Off-Highway Vehicle User Permits 1594 West North Temple, Suite 116 PO Box 146001 Salt Lake City, Utah 84114-6001 Fax: (801) 538-4802

  6. Permits will be mailed to the address provided on the affidavit. Click Here for the Application http://stateparks.utah.gov/docs/nonresidentOHVapplication.pdf

  1. Proof of residency: driver's license or other state issued identification.

  2. Proof of ownership: title/registration, or current registration, or bill of sale in cases where your state has no registration for Off-Highway Vehicles.

  3. Check or money order in the amount of $30 dollars (US). Revenues generated from Off-Highway Vehicle user fees are dedicated to the construction, improvement, operation and maintenance of Off-Highway Vehicle trails. Still have questions? Or for more information, please call 1-800-OHV-RIDE. States With Reciprocity If you are from a state listed below, you do not need a non-resident permit to ride that particular machine in Utah. If your state is not listed below, you must obtain a non-resident permit. This list is subject to change at any time without notice to this website or anyone so check the Utah State Parks and recreation website at: http://www.stateparks.utah.gov/ohv/reciprocity.html for the most current list. Concealed Carry of Weapons (updated 6-12)

It was pointed out that Utah does have reciprocity with Nevada, which means they do accept our CCW permits. Go here to see the states that share reciprocity:

Here's a website sent to me from Chuck Murphy. It contains a lot of information on the Paiute Trail: http://www.marysvale.org/paiute_trail/contents.html
